Bose & Thomas Law Chambers combines specialist expertise in corporate and technology law with a strong disputes practice, representing clients in litigation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings in India and internationally.

 

The Chambers includes dual-qualified lawyers admitted in India and the United States. Its lawyers have represented leading global technology companies in regulatory, transactional, and litigation mandates; acted for state governments before the Supreme Court and other courts in India; and represented the Government of India in high-stakes arbitrations. The practice regularly advises on high-value private equity and venture capital investments, strategic technology and civil rights litigation, and maintains an exciting practice spanning South Asia, the Middle East, and the United States.

Varun Thomas Mathew is a corporate and technology lawyer licensed to practice in India and New York, USA. His practice spans complex cross-border transactions, regulatory strategy, and technology-driven litigation.

He has advised global technology companies on investment transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, platform governance and intermediary liability, surveillance and cross-border data access, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance. His clients have included Bytedance (TikTok), Zoom Video Communications, SILQ Group, Oracle, Booking.com, Amazon, and Twitter. A significant part of his practice concerns strategic litigation at the intersection of constitutional rights and digital regulation, and he has acted in some of the most consequential technology-focused civil rights disputes of the past decade.

Varun has also advised members of the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology of the Indian Parliament. Earlier in his career, he co-founded Dekkoh Innovation Technologies, a hyper-local e-commerce start-up that leveraged chat and natural language processing to connect customers with local retailers; the company was acquired by a leading Indian e-commerce platform in 2016.

Beyond the law, Varun is also a writer. His debut novel was the award‑winning political science-fiction novel, The Black Dwarves of the Good Little Bay (Hachette, 2019).​​​​​​​​​

Chitralekha Das is a dual-qualified lawyer, licensed to practice in India and in New York, USA. She has previously worked with leading law firms, Amarchand Magaldas and Khaitan & Co., as well as the Special Public Prosecutor's Office for CBI and Enforcement Directorate. She specialises in dispute resolution, with a focus on the telecom and technology sector, white collar crimes and criminal law. Till recently, she was a partner at PLR Chambers, New Delhi.

She has ​represented the Government of India before an investment arbitration tribunal, has represented various governments before the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts in cases relating to  corruption offences, offences under the Indian Penal Code, narcotics and drug-related offences, and white collar crimes, and regularly advises companies and their key personnel on pre-litigation strategy.

Chitralekha was awarded the TRACE (Anti-Bribery) Fellowship and accredited as an Anti-Bribery Specialist, which demonstrates proficiency in anti-bribery compliance standards. She has also been selected by the International Anti-Corruption Academy, Laxenburg, Vienna, for specialized global anti-corruption workshops; and was a part of a delegation in the ninth session of the Conference of the State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
